Today I Felt Like Ben Stiller

Today I felt like Ben Stiller. You know the scene in the airport, in the movie, Meet the Parents, where he is trying to board the plane to get back home and is stopped by the gate attendant because she has not called his section of the plane yet...but there are no others in the waiting area. His, "you've got to be kidding me look", is priceless.

Well today, I was buying something very large from The Home Depot and the register I chose was the one closest to the exit. I made my purchase, stuffed the receipt it my cargo pant pockets, steadied my awkwardly balanced cart and proceeded about two feet towards the door, before being summoned by the security guard. He wanted to see my receipt, even though he must have been about 24 inches from where the receipt was printed out and where I had just completed the transaction. Of course, I somehow had misplaced the receipt in one of my multiple pockets, so I now had to stop and check each of my pockets for the hidden receipt. I definitely had the Ben Stiller look on my face at this point.

I waved the crumpled receipt at him, but this was not good enough, he wanted to inspect the receipt, which he did, and after careful review, with regal flair, he initialed the receipt with his worn out highlighter. This always happens to me, why? I'm right there, he saw me pay for it.

I dismissed my thoughts as being to critical of the guy, after all he was just doing his job. This however evaporated quickly as I reached my car to pull out my keys and the Home Depot receipt came out with them, without the mark. How could this be? Well it's because he ended up initialing the broccoli I had just bought on my supermarket receipt...

TV pitchman Billy Mays has appeared on commercials and infomercials promoting various household gadgets and products. With his distinctive booming voice, he has appeared on American TV since the early 2000s, selling such products as cleaners (Kaboom! and Oxi-Clean), the Grip Wrench, Turbo Tiger vacuum cleaner, a hands-free cell phone device, and the Big City Slider Station.

American pitchman and advertiser Billy Mays has died at the age of 50. Mays was probably most known for his pitching of the multipurpose cleaning product OxiClean.

According to reports, Mays' wife, Deborah, found him unresponsive Sunday morning in their home located in Tampa, Florida. Fire-rescue crews pronounced him dead at 7:45am EDT. The cause of death is not yet known, but authorities say they do not believe foul play was involved.

According to reports, he was a passenger on U.S. Airways Flight 1241, a flight to Tampa from Philadelphia, that suffered a tire blowout upon landing on Saturday night. He was quoted as saying objects from the overhead compartments hit him in the head, but he did not seek medical treatment. Nobody was reported injured in the incident. Deborah said he did not feel well when he went to bed at around 10:00pm EDT the previous night.

An autopsy is expected to be completed by Monday afternoon.

"Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times," said Deborah Mays in a statement to the press.

Mays recently began co-starring in a television show on the Discovery Channel called Pitchmen. Mays, along with English advertiser Anthony Sullivan starred in the show where they would 'pitch' several products. By the end of the show, two inventors would be selected and be given a chance at selling their product "en masse".

Mays also pitched sales for several other products including furniture polish Orange Glo, Mighty Putty, the Gopher, Zorbeez, and the cleaning product Kaboom!.
